Leading Hand Carpenter
GEM Resourcing is recruiting for a highly skilled Leading Hand Carpenter based in Perth to work across various residential renovation projects. This is a long term opportunity with a reputable builder specialising in high quality Melbourne style residential renovations. The role involves supervising and guiding a team of carpenters and apprentices while performing hands on carpentry and site coordination duties.
About the Role: We are seeking a qualified and experienced Leading Hand Carpenter to lead in the delivery of custom residential renovations. This role is perfect for someone who takes pride in their workmanship, enjoys problem solving, and has strong leadership capabilities. You’ll be responsible for overseeing site activities, liaising with subcontractors, and ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard and in line with building plans.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following: - Proven experience supervising and mentoring carpenters, apprentices, and labourers.
- Strong technical ability in all aspects of structural and finishing carpentry.
- Experience with site set out, structural steel, concrete, timber framing, cladding, roofing, and interior finishes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and construction drawings.
- Solid understanding of building regulations, construction sequencing, and safety requirements.
- Hands on approach to managing site cleanliness, material usage, and daily task organisation.
To be considered for this position, you must have: - Trade qualification in carpentry (Certificate IV or above).
- Minimum 5 years post apprenticeship experience.
- White Card and current WA Driver’s Licence.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise confidently with builders, subcontractors, and clients.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organisational skills.
- Full set of tools and own reliable vehicle.
- Clean police record and strong safety focus.
