Architect
GEM Resourcing is recruiting for an Registered or Non Registered Architect with a passion for heritage conservation to join a respected practice working on heritage listed churches, halls, and civic buildings across Western Australia. This is a long-term opportunity to work closely with local government on projects that preserve and celebrate the state’s architectural history.
About the Role:
We are seeking a Architect to support the conservation and adaptive reuse of culturally significant buildings. This role involves working on the analysis and documentation side of heritage architecture, preparing reports and technical drawings using Archicad and InDesign, and interpreting archival records to inform design decisions.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about the heritage space, have a strong appreciation for architectural history, and bring a methodical, research driven approach to their work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed documentation for conservation works, including measured drawings, heritage advice, and archival research.
- Draft and contribute to Heritage Impact Statements and Heritage Assessments in line with local planning policies.
- Collaborate with heritage consultants, local councils, and stakeholders to provide conservation advice and architectural support.
- Interpret and analyse archival material to inform design and restoration decisions.
- Utilise Archicad to produce accurate 2D/3D documentation and InDesign to format professional reports and visual presentations.
- Support the preparation of planning submissions and documentation packages for government approval.
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- A bachelor's degree in Architecture.
- Proficiency in Archicad (essential) and InDesign (essential).
- Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to interpret historical documentation.
- Knowledge of local heritage planning policies and conservation standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Full working rights in Australia and must be Perth based.
